The Heart of a Fast

James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

In this passage, James reminds us that knowing God requires intentional pursuit. He calls us to draw near to God, with the promise that God will, in turn, draw near to us. In order to draw near to Him, we must examine our hearts. Are we more focused on our desires or His will? Are we pursuing the world’s ways or seeking His wisdom?

Isn’t it wonderful that we serve a God who desires closeness with us? Think about the relationships that matter most to you. Don’t you desire to spend more time with them? Aren’t you intentional about creating space for them?

It’s not just about disconnection from things, it’s about deep connection with God!
